Silver Addy.

February 23rd, 2009 | Design. | admin |

Over the weekend, some co-workers of mine at Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group and I attended the 2009 Addy Awards at the Shakespeare Theater in downtown Orlando. We mingled with creatives from other agencies while sampling every appetizer that was placed under our nose. Well, at least I did. After a couple of hours we all filed into the theater and prepared ourselves for the two hour awards show. As an agency, we submitted about 50 pieces of work. Which paled in comparison to some of the other agencies that submitted their work. I, myself, had two pieces submitted. The website I art directed for the 2008 Disney Parks Holidays campaign and the La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil online campaign I did utilizing the Le Cons were submitted this year. The La Nouba ad campaign was awarded a Silver Addy for Banners/Pop-Ups/Screensavers.

The Shoesies also walked away with the following:

  • Special Judges Award: Design - Star Wars Light Saber
  • Best of Interactive: Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Mini-site
  • Sales Promotion Silver Addy: Disney Cruise Line Mexican Rivera Kit
  • Collateral Material, Poster, Gold Addy: Star Wars Light Saber, Silver Addy: Vacuuming
  • Collateral Material, Poster Campaign, Silver Addy: Festival of the Masters and The Force is Calling Campaign
  • Interactive Media Micro or Mini sites: Gold Addy: Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Mini-site
  • Television National TV, Consumer Services: Paper Wonderland Disneyland
  • Elements of Advertising Photography, Digitally Enhanced: Cirque du Soleil

Rounding out the night was the Student work submitted for the Addys. Majority of the work came from the well respected Valencia Community College. And I must say that a lot of the work was well-done and I expect to see a lot of those names in the advertising world in the near future. Congratulations to all of the winners and I look forward to seeing what the advertising community pushes out in 2009.
